About Circular Motion for Education and Healing:

Rule #1. You don't have to be a drummer to participate.

Circular Motion was specially created by award winning professional drummer Kevin Richard Hotte to exercise the aural and neural functions of the brain. Using drums and drumming as the delivery platform, Circular Motion is a workshop that is part education, part healing, part exploration & self-discovery, part entertainment and most importantly, all parts fun!

Circular Motion has two distinctly different presentation formats:

1. For Education and Self Discovery
2. For Healing and Medical Therapy

Education and Self Discovery:

By way of using sound sampling and drumming, Kevin takes participants on a journey that provides a safe environment for experimentation and discovery.  He allows them to break though their personal barriers and gently pull them out of their shell and eliminate the walls that we all put up around ourselves so that they can experience their environment (and the world for that matter) in a totally new and refreshing way.  As a group,

Kevin enlightens them to a new method of communication and expression among them by providing the common ground of rhythm.

This is especially helpful for those who have issues with shyness and social awkwardness.  These character traits often prevent people from excelling and achieving their optimum potential both personally and professionally.

Just imagine how much additional creativity we could tap into if we could only free ourselves from ourselves - no inhibitions!

Healing and Medical Therapy:

Circular Motion is a great therapeutic activity for patients with certain medical issues.  It has been well documented that workshops such as this are beneficial to healing certain medical conditions by allowing patients to exercise their motor skills, use muscles and joints that need rejuvinating and physio-therapy.

Practical applications for healing and medical therapy:

Studies have demonstrated the calming, focusing, and healing effects of drumming on Alzheimer's patients, autistic children, emotionally disturbed teens, recovering addicts and trauma patients. Drumming is also a valuable treatment for stress, fatigue, anxiety, hypertension, asthma, chronic pain, arthritis, mental illness, migraines, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, paralysis, emotional disorders, and a wide range of physical disabilities. Circular Motion is an effective activity therapy for the elderly and retirement living facilities. It's more than just a drum circle! It's an attitude and it's a philosophy!

Health & Brain/Body Benefits from Hand Drumming:

1) Improved happiness, personal confidence, and emotional connection to oneself & others thru feelings & "self expression."

2) Improved cognition, mental clarity, and sensory processing thru engaging the brain & body in coordinated movement

3) Improvement in proprioceptive memory - thru rhythmic progressions.

3) Improved connection with others thru Brain Wave Entrainment (BWE) of group play.

4) Increased blood flow to muscles, tendons, joints, and organs from coordinated movement of the body.

5) Reduction of Stress, and improved sensory processing, esp. in sensory processing disorders (SPDs), from the vibration of the instruments.

6) Exercises motor skills and hand-eye coordination

For personal and professional growth: Team Building and Bonding

Understanding the rhythm of life and conquering shyness through this new self-awareness will contribute to making participants feel more socially comfortable and personally confident. One of the key components of Circular Motion is the interactivity that is incorporated into it.  Eventually, the participants actually become the event and they dictate the direction.

You don't have to be a drummer to participate. Through a series of stories and performance demonstrations Kevin first teaches his audience the basics of creating and hearing rhythm. He will then demonstrate to the audience a whole new way of hearing and seeing the world around them, and then he will teach them how to play some of the basic rhythms, then then the grande finale of the event - everyone joins in and participates in a series of drumming sessions. By the end of this process, they surprisingly discover that Kevin has also taught them basic drumming skills.

The emphasis is placed on having fun, being free to create and play anything the participants feel comes into their heart and hands.

The result is a lot of fun as people begin to listen more closely to one another and begin to work together to create new rhythms. The intent is for everyone to “free themselves from themselves” and bring out their true creativity and emotion in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

By way of demonstration and participation, Circular Motion becomes a drum circle, a history lesson, a study of basic communication, and an outlet for creative self-expression. By helping them to see and hear their environment differently, Kevin helps participants to bring body, mind and spirit together. It's utter magic!

For business and professional growth:

Circular Motion provides high impact team building and bonding through drumming circle sessions. Circular Motion is a fun, creative way to strengthen and enrich your corporate team, open new doors to their collective and individual creativity, and relieve the typical stresses that tend to build-up in a corporate environment.

We use drums and rhythm to focus on the principles of leadership development, interactive teamwork, and out-of-the-box thinking.  Your team will feel empowered by combining fundamental communication skills with his Kevin's unique methodology.

Each percussion and drumming workshop is tailored to meet predefined objectives that deliver tangible results with surprising impact.  This is one of those priceless intangibles that can not only improve the performance of your staff but the overall corporate culture and environment. If people can leap over some often self-imposed barriers they have the potential to become even better performers.

This is especially helpful if they have issues with shyness, social awkwardness, and inhibition.  It has been well documented that these character traits often prevent people from excelling and achieving their optimum potential both personally and professionally.
